Soft Scrub Mold and Mildew- Review + FLASH Giveaway

I am a Purex Insider and was given the opportunity to try and review Soft Scrub Mold and Mildew for free! You'd think I wouldn't be so excited about cleaning- but anything that helps me get the bathroom clean is a good thing.

If you have a mold or mildew problem in your bathroom, Soft Scrub Mold and Mildew Gel will fix that. I used it in the bathroom and noticed a big difference on my toilet seat. I thought it was clean before, but it was able to get a layer of junk off of it (and I really try not think about that too much) and keep it clean.

Since I meant to post this a long time ago- I want to get these coupons to a new owner so I will be hosting a giveaway that ends TOMORROW!

Cascade© Platinum Pacs- Review #Sponsored

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

I'm part of Mom Central Consulting and being a part of that great group of bloggers allows me the chance to review products and tell others about new things coming up. It also gives me some compensation for my time, even though the opinions are always my own.

I was recently given the chance to review Cascade© Platinum Pacs, and I was actually excited to do the dishes- well not quite excited. I was ready to put it to the test.

I hate having to rinse and "wash" my dishes before washing them in the dishwasher. I get scraping food off, but when I have to wipe ketchup or syrup off of dishes that should have been "clean" I get kind of frustrated.

Before I get into my review, let me share a bit about the Cascade© Platinum Pacs:

Cascade© Platinum Pacs feature an advanced triple action recipe that is specially designed to
leave dishware virtually spot-free and help prevent the build-up of hard-water film on dishwasher walls.

Powers away tough, 24 hour stuck-on food
• Eliminates the need to pre-wash dishes
• Helps maintain the look of new machines and helps prevent additional hard-water build-up

• Delivers exceptional dishware shine

I was sold! We have hard water in my city, I usually have food that has been stuck on for 24 hours (when my dish hunt turns up all the ones I missed!), and like I said- I hate pre-washing the dishes.

Another thing I was excited to hear about was Cascade's partnership with Gail Simmons. If you check out instagram (or even my facebook posts) you know that people take pictures of their food. It's an experience, not just a meal, and when the dishes are dirty it kind of ruins the appeal.

Check out Cascade's Facebook Page for more information!

As for my review, I was very impressed with the product! My dishes didn't have a film when I put them away, and I didn't have to rewash. I've used it all week (and while being at camp and various activities, there are times when the dishes don't get rinses or in the dishwasher right away).

I love that it also uses Dawn, because that is what I use for my dishes that can't be put in the dishwasher. I've tried other brands, but there's something about Dawn that makes my dishes FEEL cleaner, and I think that helps enhance Cascade Platinum.

As if Sparkling Dishes aren't exciting enough, Cascade is hosting a contest where you could win a Kitchenaid Kitchen Makeover just by taking part in their Photo contest and more information on their Instagram!

Soft Scrub® 4-in-1 Toilet Care- Review + Giveaway!

I am Purex Insider, which means that I am able to try and review products for free and host giveaways for my readers. I love being an Insider because Purex is a brand that I already use, because it is low-cost and worked well for our clothes. I like being able to share their new products because they are products I really use, even without the free samples.

Sometimes as an Insider I get to review products from other brands as well. I was able to try the new Soft Scrub® 4-in-1 Toilet Care for free in order to review it and get to host a giveaway for you all!

All you need to do is attach the product to the toilet in an area that allows the water flow to touch it when flushing. My favorite part about this product is that it does the work with each flush. I like to have a fresh-smelling bathroom and knowing that it is working even when cleaning is the last thing I want to do.

I think the only downside is that my toddler can detach the cleaner easily and that worried me. After catching him in the act, he stopped, but it is still a concern I have. I think it may have worked better if it was more securely attached.

Aside from that, my bathroom has smelled fresh (no easy feat!) since using Soft Scrub® 4-in-1 Toilet Care.

3 Frugal Teacher Mama readers will have the chance of winning a free Soft Scrub product to try at home! Enter below :)

Menu Monday: Post Easter Feast

I was so thankful to be picked for a Kroger BzzAgent Campaign just in time for the holiday and a great way to start the menu for the week!

One of the bigger problems we've faced while renovating the house (and since I started working) was the family meal. We've been popping through drive-thrus and turning to not so healthy or yummy options too often.

This Kroger Bzzkit is all about bringing the family home for dinner. I got to get a lot of ingredients that would make a wonderful feast for my family:

Pictured:
A Kroger Moist & Tender Pork Tenderloin
Kroger Macaroni and Cheese
Kroger Crescent Rolls
Kroger Cake Mix
Kroger Frosting

I cooked the Moist & Tender Pork Tenderloin in the crockpot with garlic and other seasonings all day. The Macaroni and Cheese was so easy, just had to microwave it! The crescent rolls took little time to make, and I added some green beans and tomatoes to balance the meal out.

That was such a great family meal. We talked about our day (we had fun at an egg hunt AND flying kites in the park). I thought for sure my daughter would eat all of the roast, but she didn't ;)

I still have leftovers for BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. I also plan to use the cake mix to make a pinterest cookie recipe I found, but that won't be until later.

Kroger has many options that help you bring the meal to the table after a busy day and can be fast enough to work in between lessons, practice, or meetings. I love that this brand offers both quality, and keeps my food budget in check.

What meals are on your family table this week?

Dial Kids Body and Hair Wash- review + giveaway

I posted yesterday that my kids got to try out a new body wash from Dial, but I didn't have to leave the Toddler out.

Dial has also developed a Body and Hair Wash for kids 2 and older. It is more like the baby wash that we're used to, but is made with Toddlers in mind.

He loved the bubbles made by the soap, but I lived how clean he was after using it. He hates having his hair rinsed, but this rinsed out quickly and didn't irritate his eyes.

As day four of the Spring Break giveaway 3 readers will win a bottle to try!

Carmex Healing Cream and Hydrating Lotion review + giveaway

This harsh winter weather has been brutal on my skin. My legs are dry, my hands are cracking, and my arms get itchy. Even though spring break is here the winter weather hasn't let up and my skin is still feeling the burn.

Thankfully Carmex has a Healing Cream and Hydrating Lotion to help my skin be ready for spring. I've been using it for the past week and like that my skin is less itchy and feels smoother. I reapply it often so that I keep the smooth feeling. It also doesn't leave a greasy residue and I'm feeling ready for some sun rather than the frozen wasteland outside ;)

A lucky reader will win a prize pack from Carmex!! Enter below to win:

Dial Kids Body + Hair Wash review + giveaway

My kids are getting older, but aren't quite ready for "grown up" shampoo. They need a kids' body wash that will protect their eyes since when washing they still get it in their eyes and it's a hassle to rinse, so when I got the chance to review Dial Kids Body + Hair Wash. I wanted to see if it would work well for them.

I still have to limit how much they use, since they'd use the whole bottle if given the chance, but aside from that they were able to use it without any issues. It got sudsy and washed them well. They also loved the watermelon scent.

As day two of the Spring Break giveaways, 3 readers will win a bottle to try!

Purex Natural Elements review + giveaway

It is finally SPRING BREAK and I am so ready for a tropical getaway. Only when I look outside all I see is a winter wonderland.

That doesn't mean I can't bring the tropical splash here! I washed a load of towels in Purex Natural Elements Tropical Splash and let the scent take me away.

This is a hypoallergenic detergent that combines pineapple and coconut as well as distant flowers to make you feel like you're far from the mountain of laundry in your basement (or is that just me?).

I liked how it worked on our towels, they were fluffy and smelled great. It made the mundane task of laundry a little better (though a real vacation would be nicer lol).

Since I can't go on a trip far from home, I want to share this tropical getaway with you all as the first of my Spring Break giveaways.

3 lucky winners will be selected, enter below:

Purex Detergent plus Fabric Softener with Crystals Fragrance- Review + Giveaway

The past couple of weeks have been really difficult for my household. We've had sicknesses, testing, projects, construction, and more going on and I could hardly tell if I was coming or going. So, of course, the laundry piled up for me to tackle as well.

(Anyone feel like washing it for me?)

Some of it had been sitting down there for.. awhile and it was way less than fresh. I really needed something that would clean it and get it to smell good again. Thankfully, I got to try out new Purex Detergent plus Fabric Softener with Crystals Fragrance. It combined the most popular scent off the Purex Crystals (which I also love) with fabric softener and detergent all in one step (saving on time and from buying a lot of different products!).

I loaded up the washer and hoped for the best, but Purex didn't disappoint. All the laundry came out smelling fresh again, and I didn't have to worry about how long it had been sitting in the basement. I love that this is an affordable way to get a lot of different products, in one. It really is a great value because you spend less and get so much more.

Frugal Teacher Mama readers get a special treat! You can enter the contest below and 3 winners will win a bottle to try!

Honey Bunches of Oats Tropical Blends: Review + Giveaway!

I was really happy to have the chance to review Honey Bunched of Oats Tropical Blends. Not just because my kids love to eat and anything I can give them will help ;) We are a cereal eating family, and not just for breakfast. In fact, I think we eat more cereal as a snack than we do for a breakfast meal.

My kids like Honey Bunches of Oats, especially the granola clusters, so I was curious to see how they would react to the mango flavored flakes and coconut granola (and coconut shavings). My 2 year old was the first to try it, but when his siblings saw the bowl they wanted some too.

I eventually had to put the box up or it would have been gone in a day. This made me very curious to try (and I wanted to be sure to do so before it was gone!) and I could see why they liked it. The tropical flavor is present in the cereal, but not in a way that is too overpowering. I could see eating this as a snack (it's sweet enough to feel like a treat) or for breakfast the days we actually do have cereal. Whether it is a snack or a meal, I can feel confident that it's a good-for-me choice.

Since I'm a Purex Insider, I got to sample this- but I also have a giveaway for you! 3 readers will win a coupon for a free box of Honey Bunches of Oats!

If you want another chance to win, enter the Tropical Trio Sweepstakes for even more chances to win awesome prizes! If you enter, you'll get an additional entry in this giveaway to double your chances at winning!

Emmy Rossum Sentimental Journey: Review

I've been a fan of Emmy Rossum since the Phantom of the Opera movie. I watched it on repeat and tried to have my Christine measure up to hers (it didn't). I still have the soundtrack on my playlist and am in awe of her talent. My sister has also introduced me to the show Shameless, which stars Emmy Rossum as well as William H. Macy. She also stars alongside Emma Thompson  and Viola Davis in the upcoming feature film Beautiful Creatures in theaters February 13th. So I was excited to be able to review her new album Sentimental Journey.

This album is so different from what is usually on my shuffle rotation. The songs bring you back to another era., I feel like it was missing from my playlist. The songs are beautiful and her voice is so powerful. Through these covers of classic songs from the American Songbook we take an emotional musical journey through songs representing a specific month. I am a big fan of autumn, it is my favorite season, so I fell in love with her rendition of Autumn Leaves. I've had it on repeat constantly. It's a beautiful song and her voice conveys the emotion behind it so well.

Here are the songs featured, January through December.

  1. “Sentimental Journey” (Les Brown, Ben Homer, Arthur Green)
  2. “The Object Of My Affection” (Pinky Tomlin)
  3. “I’m Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover “(Mort Dixon, Harry M. Woods)
  4. “These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)” (Eric Maschwitz, Jack Strachey)
  5. “(I’ll Be With You) In Apple Blossom Time” (Albert Von Tilzer, Neville Fleeson)
  6. “Summer Wind” (Heinz Meier, Johnny Mercer)
  7. “Many Tears Ago” (Winfield Scott)
  8. “All I Do Is Dream Of You” (Nacio Herb Brown, Arthur Freed)
  9. “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out” (Jimmy Cox)
  10. “Autumn Leaves” (Joseph Kosma, Jacques Prévert)
  11. “Things” (Bobby Darin)
  12. “Pretty Paper” (Willie Nelson)

To keep up with up with Emmy Rossum news, you can follow her on Twitter, or listen to Sentimental Journey on YouTube, check out her appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on February 6th. You can buy her album here on Amazon.

I participated in this campaign for One2One Network. I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review. By posting, I am eligible for incentives. All opinions stated are my own.

Posy Lane Inc- Review

Isn't this bag the cutest? I was given the opportunity to try a product from Posy Lane and when I saw that they had duffle bags, I knew it would be the perfect product to review for my son. Posy Lane has a great selection of boys duffle bags but when he saw this Camo Mint Duffle bag he just had to have it. He also chose to have his personalized with his name (in green, of course, though they had a lot of colors and fonts to choose from). I thought the option to have it personalized was great, because when he takes it with him to camp or sleepovers, his things will be clearly marked. He's even more excited for summer camp this year, because he plans to use it to pack all of his things.

The duffle bag is spacious and well-made. Sometimes kids products seem to lack the quality of regular ones, but I don't think this is true for this duffle bag. I tested it out by packing up a bunch of my son's things (stuff I found all over the floor ranging from clothing to toy cars to books) and not only did the bag hold more than I thought it would, it held up well even with oddly shaped items. I love the tabs on either end of the zipper, because it makes zipping this duffle really easy for both kids and mom.

I think this face says it all.

If you check out the site, you'll see that Posy Lane also has a wide variety of products to choose from. You can choose from kids backpacks, lunchboxes, stationary, apparel, and even baby products (I thought those would make wonderful shower gifts). I made up my own wishlist of things and will share the site with family members to keep in mind for birthdays and gifts. I love gifts that are functional as well as cute, and these personalized ones are both.

Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy!

I was so happy to be able to go see Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy!   with my family! I remember seeing a Disney on Ice show when I was a kid (it was for the movie Aladdin). I have so many memories attached to Disney and it was fun knowing that my children were building their own.

The show starts where it all began with Mickey and the gang hitting a snag and visiting many different worlds.  I loved how they were able to transition to the different worlds, there were beautiful scenes and props used throughout the show. I think my favorite world was under the sea, the way the made the sea life come to life was just beautiful, and it brought back all the memories I had of seeing that movie for the first time! I felt like I was a kid again.

I loved that it had the perfect mix of old and new. Parents can watch and bring back memories (I had to restrain myself from singing as Ariel loses her voice!) and their children can make new ones with familiar faces. I predicted that my daughter's favorite scene would be Tinkerbell, she was amazed by the fairy world and I kept watching her face light up. I knew as soon as the Toy Story world started that my son would love it, but I was surprised at how nostalgic I felt while watching it. My husband and I kept laughing at the jokes and one-liners throughout while my kids (and I) danced during the songs.

I had so much fun watching the show. The ice skaters are so talented and the jokes and songs were entertaining. I think I had the most fun watching all the looks of wonder on the faces around me. This was a great show and I am so thankful I was able to go. I think this has become a yearly tradition for my family!

Fashion Friday: Neutrogena Norwegian Formula® Review and a Manicure

I'm a BzzAgent and got to try out Neutrogena Norwegian Formula® Hand Cream (and share it with others!). This time of year is perfect for this, because as a teacher (and parent) I am constantly washing my hands. that combined with the dry heat of having the furnace on made my hands so dry and chapped, they were painful.

I immediately felt relief when trying Neutrogena Norwegian Formula® Hand Cream! That's because:

  • One dab works on 7 areas of damage!
  • It is long lasting
  • It keep manicured hands beautiful
  • You can even use on lips as needed.

I wanted to put the Manicure to the test and try out a new way that I've admired on pinterest- water marbling.

Yeah, my hands are soft but they  were a MESS. That was a fail. I've taken some advice from a friend and when I feel brave enough I'll try it again. But even after that mess, I wanted to try again because I felt like my hands looked good enough to have a manicure.

I know Crackle isn't as popular as it used to be, but I loved this pop of color! I feel like on these gray and dreary days I needed a little vibrancy.

I love how the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula® soothes my hands. I carry it with me wherever I go, even though I don't need it that often. It's really helping my hands survive this winter!

*Disclosure: I was given a free product to sample as well as sample sizes to share with friends, because I am a BzzAgent. All opinions expressed are my own. Check my disclosure policy if you have any questions.

Dial’s Holiday Foaming Handwash- review

I'm a Purex Insider and was given the opportunity to review  Dial’s Holiday Foaming Handwash this season. I was probably more excited about soap than I think a person should be, but since I work in a classroom all day and come home to 3 of my own kids handwashing is something I strongly encourage. This season we have noticed an increase in illness, so much so that the school nurse is wearing a sign saying "WASH YOUR HANDS!"

Even with my "passion" for handwashing, the first thing I noticed was how cute the containers were! The designs were the perfect fit when we started decorating for Christmas. I put one in my kitchen and one in the bathroom to bring in some Holiday cheer (and for obvious reasons).

Since this is a foam, you don't use it exactly like you would liquid soap. To use it you pump the foam first, work it onto your hands, then add water. I like that it seems to get better coverage than liquid soap does and uses less water. Even without the extra water it kills  99.9% of bacteria. The scent was light enough that it doesn't overpower you, but smells really good. It lasts a long time too (and with 5 people in my house, that's saying alot). I also have noticed a cleaner bathroom. The kids don't overuse this and it doesn't get liquid soap all over the sink. One pump is more than enough.

Having a healthy and happy holiday is important to me, and I like that Dial's Holiday Foaming Handwash can help do both :)

*Disclaimer: I am a Purex Insider and was given 2 bottles of Dial's Holiday Foaming Handwash for review purposes. All opinions expressed are my own.

COVERGIRL blastflipstick- review + BzzReport

Being a BzzAgent has many perks, and one of them is discovering new products and being able to share them with friends!

Recently, I got to try the COVERGIRL blastflipstick in Vixen and really loved the different looks I could create with just one product. It was like having 3 different shades in one and could easily take a look from day to night. The blastflipstick was also light and not cakey like some lip colors can be. I can feel a little self-conscious with darker lips, but I feel like this was a good look for me.

The ombre trend seems to be here to stay, and you can mimic this effect with the blastflipstick. I loved being able to pick my own shade and know that I can be in control of how it looks and change based on what I feel like wearing. I can't wait to try out the different shades, there are tons of looks to create, and at $8.49 it is an affordable way to have so many options.

Check out the COVERGIRL facebook page to find the shade perfect for you!

Carmex Lip Conditioner- Review

One of the joys of winter are the chilly, snowy days. You can bundle up and enjoy how pretty and peaceful the world looks under a blanket of snow.

Until your heating bill goes up, the snow turns to slush (or even worse, is just rain or ice) and your skin starts to feel the effects of the heat and elements.

I battle chapped lips every year and am one person that always has some sort of lip balm at all times. So when I got the chance to review Carmex Lip Conditioner, I was so excited.

This is really different than other forms of Carmex. As a Carmex blogger, I've been able to try different formulas and have really liked how they help battle chapped and hurt lips. This isn't glossy and isn't like any lip balms I have tried. It really does feel like a conditioner. It helps soothe lips immediately and I've noticed them feeling softer longer (and I don't feel the need to constantly reapply). At the same time even though the results seem to last longer, I don't feel like I'm wearing anything at all.

I shared it with my friend Lisa and hope to hear how she likes it soon :)

The Greatest Show on Earth- Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents DRAGONS- Review

As soon as I heard about Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents DRAGONS  at Bankers Life Fieldhouse I was so excited to surprise the kids with the show! Especially my son, who loves anything and everything dragons.

We joined a full house of people ready for the circus, it was amazing just how many people came out to see the show. I think having a full house makes the show experience even better, you get to "oo" and "ah" with each other and it just makes the show have a great energy.

This show is filled with acts, as you learn the skills you need with Strength, Courage, Wisdom, and Heart. I loved how the dragon theme was interwoven throughout the performances. It is a good balance of animal acts, which are always amazing, and showcasing the talents of people from their ability to move, flip, and drive.

When you hear "The Greatest Show on Earth!" you expect to see animals trained to perform, but I think the act featuring domestic animals (like cats and dogs) surprised me the most! I was not expecting that at all, and it was such a hit! I think it was a favorite for my children, and I could hear the laughs and cheers from the audience.

The show didn't go off completely without a hitch, but I think that just showed how real it was. The people performing are doing amazing (and dangerous!) things, and I think it helped show just how spectacular it is.

The greatest part of the greatest show is always watching it through the eyes of kids. Mine were amazed by the animals, dazzled by the acrobats in "bubbles", and would not stop talking about the motorcycles well after the show!

Judging by the smiling faces I saw while leaving the show, it was a hit for audiences young and old :)

Disney's Phineas and Ferb The Best LIVE Tour Ever!- Review

Last night we were given the opportunity to take the kids to Disney's Phineas and Ferb The Best LIVE Tour Ever!

Disney Characters and artwork ©Disney

Imagine having summer forever! That is what Phineas and Ferb try to do as well as try to put on the best show ever with fun ideas from their friends. The show is the perfect mix of familiar songs and characters with new settings and storylines. The jokes and songs have kids and their parents laughing and dancing in their seats.

The pre-show fun included dancing lessons, sing-a-longs, and meeting some of the cast. Our seats were great but as I looked around I couldn't see a bad seat in the house. The show incorporates a lot of audience participation so be prepared to see Perry the Platypus up close and personal and to hit a disco golf ball around.

I had so much fun watching the show, but also watching my kids! Their eyes lit up and they giggled, danced, and cheered throughout the show. I had a range of ages from 2 to 6 to 9 with me, and each of them loved the show. This is show is one that will create memories and you'll be singing the songs the whole way home. Check to see if the tour is coming to a city near you. It's a must see for those with kids!

Purex plus Oxi- Review + Giveaway!

I love being a Purex Insider, more than I love doing laundry (though that may not be a tough contest). Since starting work, laundry has been so difficult to get to. I have tried to do a load a day, but when I've been at work all day and add in childcare, girl scouts, boy scouts, and other obligations it will be 9pm and laundry will be the last thing on my mind.

So the weekends are my laundry days and I just marathon it until all the loads are done. One concern I have during this is stains setting. I usually have a whole process for doing laundry, but Purex plus Oxi is going to help shorten my routine!

I usually opt for scent-free detergent, but this scent is nice enough that it doesn't bother me or my husband, and really helps make our laundry feel fresher (which is a big task for week-old laundry!). With 3 kids ranging in age from 2-9 it also has been great at scaring away the stains!

So, while I may not enjoy laundry day to the extreme- I do enjoy having clean clothes for the week and fewer steps in getting my clothes clean!

Try it for yourself! 3 lucky Frugal Teacher Mama readers will get to try Purex plus Oxi for free! Just enter the contest below! If you're feeling really lucky, enter Purex plus Oxi's sweepstakes and be entered to win $1,000 and a 1 year supply of Purex plus Oxi. Plus if you enter you can get a bonus entry for the Frugal Teacher Mama giveaway!
