Cutting the Home Phone

After much thought, we finally decided to cut out our home phone. Once our introductory cable package discount expired we found out it would cost us another $20 just to keep the home phone, which was rarely used now that we had cell phones.

So now we are down to just using our cell phones. $20 a month was not worth it for the home phone and our cell phones had contracts. Even with how often we use them, we are well under our minutes (which is the lowest amount our plan offers) so we feel confident that this won't impact our bill. If anything it'll make us use our phones only when necessary.

Have you given up the landline? How do you save money on phone service?

  1. We gave up our home phone a couple of years ago, and you're right! It really saves us some money. We also switched our cell phones to the Straight Talk ones from Wal-Mart. Even though we talk and text a lot, it's only $30 each month per phone!!!
