Wisdom Wednesday: Website Resources

Technology is a great tool for education. It can be overused and misused, but I think that when used correctly is helps so much! Our children are growing and learning in a different world than we are, and I think it is important for them to learn to use technology. I also think that we need to raise a discerning generation that is able to check the sources for accuracy.

Here are a couple of the websites that my kids love to play on when they have computer time, the best is that not only are they educational but they are free too :)

You can pick a subject and practice on grade-level skills in many subjects.

This is one my kids (and the kids at school) request to play all the time.

Homework with Technology.

One struggle we face each day is homework. I have a 3rd grader and 1st grader and the homework they have varies. It can be hard to help both at the same time and I feel like I'm constantly bouncing back and forth.

One solution I've had for this is to let one of them use my iPod Touch while I work with the other. I've downloaded a few educational games for them so that this time is productive, and so far it has made it easier to focus on one child without having the other lose time that could be spend practicing needed skills.

I'm struggling with good apps for my 3rd grader though. I want to keep it to the free apps, so I guess for now it'll be trial and error until we find the ones that work best for us.

Have you found any great educational apps? I'd love to hear about them (especially if they are free!).
